Media alert: Recharging Coffs Coast – saving the region $62 million in fuel costs

Solar Citizens 2 mins read

What: Launch of report into potential cost savings for Coffs Coast residents due to more efficient vehicles, plus the first electric ute in Australia on display

When: Tuesday 23 May, 5.30-7.30pm

Where: Grafton District Services Club, 105 Mary St, Grafton.

With fuel prices soaring and regional Australians hit hardest, Solar Citizens has commissioned a report showing the $62M in savings that a strong Fuel Efficiency Standard could bring to the Coffs Coast community by delivering more fuel-efficient cars to the region.

Join Solar Citizens and Farmers for Climate Action to welcome the report, and discuss how strong Fuel Efficiency Standards can bring Australia the choices in efficient cars the US and EU enjoy.

Farmers for Climate Action farmer and Clarence Network Coordinator Peter Lake says: “As a farmer, I am really excited about electric vehicles and their potential to have a really positive impact on the ag sector. There are so many benefits, whether it be cost savings, having quieter vehicles that won’t spook the cows or lowering our emissions.

“That’s why I’m excited about our upcoming event in Grafton, where I can finally check out an electric ute, meet some like minded farmers and have a chat with experts about the exciting developments that are coming. I would love to see lots of other locals there - it will be a really interesting event.”

One of Australia’s first electric utes will be on display at the launch. The electric ute is touring regional Australia on the Electric Ute Roadshow to showcase the cost savings and other benefits electric vehicles can bring to the regions.

About the Electric Ute Roadshow

Regional Australians shouldn’t have to pay the price at the petrol pump and miss out on the opportunities of electric vehicles while the cities speed ahead. The Electric Ute Roadshow will highlight how sensible transport policies like Fuel Efficiency Standards will give people the choice of more efficient, affordable and diverse models that are suitable for the regions—including the much-loved Aussie tradition of utes— and reveal the cost-savings and other benefits electric vehicles bring to the regions.
