17 public schools across the Lithgow area are recruiting staff with administration, computer and communication skills to help our teachers spend more time teaching and less time on administrative tasks.
Full and part-time roles are now available in many local schools as part of the School Administration Improvement Program.
Roles available include:
• School Administrative Officer
• School Learning Support Officer
• Aboriginal Education Officer
• Community Liaison Officer
These roles provide a range of administrative, financial and wellbeing support to office and classroom activities, such as helping to arrange excursions, liaising with parents, organising events, data entry and building vibrant school communities.
Addressing workload challenges is one of four focus areas of a new Statement of Intent agreed to by the NSW Teachers’ Federation, Public Service Association, and other key partners in May.
As an immediate form of support, the School Administration Improvement Program will be trialled in Terms 3 and 4, with a focus on reducing teacher admin workload.
Staff will receive training and support to ensure they can succeed in their role.
Applications close on 3 July. To apply visit https://iworkfor.nsw.gov.au/
NSW Department of Education Secretary Murat Dizdar said:
“Working in a public school is a great opportunity to make a positive impact on your local young people and be in a job that’s at the heart of your community.
“With family-friendly hours and opportunities for different future pathways, these are perfect roles for parents or carers returning to the workforce, people who want better work-life balance, or those who just love the idea of being back in a vibrant school environment!”
“School Administration and Support Staff are often the friendly face you see first when you visit a school. Now we will be seeing more of them supporting our teachers in the Lithgow area."
