Search underway for new Farmers for Climate Action CEO

19 June 2023

Farmers for Climate Action CEO Fiona Davis is leaving after five years with the organisation, to pursue another opportunity and spend more time with family.

“After five years with Farmers for Climate Action, I have made the difficult decision to step down from the role of CEO,” Dr Davis said.

“I am thrilled that the Board has asked me to assist them in the search for my replacement and I will help the new CEO to transition into their role, post my departure in mid-July.

“I am so proud of the position of Farmers for Climate Action today. We’ve grown to a highly professional organisation representing 8,000 farmers, and will continue to grow following my departure, which will enable us to attract an incredible CEO to lead us into our next phase.

‘We have a proven track record of impacting major policies to create deeper emissions reductions, evidenced most recently by our work securing the methane pledge; also the vital reduction in offsets in the Safeguard Mechanism.

“We lead the conversation in industry and political spaces. Our regular reports bring critical climate and agriculture issues to the fore, seeding ideas and creating discussion around Australia. Farmers for Climate Action has a huge farmer base, an excellent team, great networks and relationships, and real influence.”

Farmers for Climate Action Chair Charlie Prell thanked Fiona for taking the organisation to the next level.

“Dr Fiona Davis has overseen the growth of Farmers for Climate Action to now represent 8,000 farmers who genuinely lead emissions reduction discussions and influence policy,” Mr Prell said.

“Fiona leaves Farmers for Climate Action in a great position. While we will miss Fiona greatly, we will build on her legacy and further strengthen the excellent position she’s leaving us in. We have a very clear strategy with strong alignment across our staff, board, and with our key partners.

“We are looking forward to the next chapter in the growth of Farmers for Climate Action and to maximising our impact in this decisive decade for emissions reduction. We will continue to work with industry partners, all political representatives and all levels of government to achieve this.

“The Board’s next task is to identify the person who is best placed to take on the CEO role following Fiona’s departure, and to ensure we make the most of the opportunity we have right now.”
