VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC COMMEMORATION MARCH AND SERVICE

Monday 14th August 2023

Parade Commences 10.50am I Service from 11.00am

The Victory in the Pacific Committee is made up of two Registered Clubs Cabra-Vale Ex-Active Servicemen's and Mounties Group of Clubs, and 7 RSL Sub Branches in NSW from Bankstown to Campbeltown. This Committee is a group of devoted individuals that have organised a Commemoration Service and Street Parade to be held on Monday 14th August 2023, to pay our community respects and to remember those who were involved in the conflict. It will start at the Cabra-Vale Ex-Active Servicemen's Club. The march will move along Bartley Street onto Railway Parade, finishing with the Commemoration Service in the Cabravale Memorial Park.

In June 2005 the Cabramatta district was awarded a grant from the Commonwealth Government for the provision of a permanent memorial to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Victory in the Pacific. It was suggested that a plaque be mounted on two columns or pedestals adjacent to the steps leading to the Rotunda in the Cabravale Memorial Park. It was agreed that a joint Commemoration Service be held on the 14th of August 2005 to commemorate the victory and unveil the plaque. The march and commemoration service proved a huge success, attracting several hundred spectators. It was agreed in 2007 that the ceremony was so successful that it would become an annual event with the emphasis given to the future education of our community and school students.

We are honoured this year to have the Honourable David Harris MP, Minister for Veterans, local politicians, and the Consulate Generals from the United States of America, Japan, and New Zealand. We expect to lay over 50 wreaths by the dignitaries and the community. The organising committee has arranged for a flyover with World War II aircraft during the service. It will be a respectful event which promotes the understanding of Australian military history in the Pacific. There has also been a magnificent response from our public and secondary schools who will also be attending on the day.

The Clubs involved are, Smithfield RSL Sub Branch, St Johns Park Bowling Club, Campbelltown RSL Sub Branch, Cabra-Vale Ex-Active Servicemen's Club, Fairfield RSL Sub Branch, Mounties Group of clubs, lngleburn RSL Sub Branch, Liverpool RSL Sub Branch and Bankstown RSL Sub Branch.

We invite our local community and media to attend this commemoration service to remember all those affected by war and honour those who sadly did not return home.

Patients welcome better access to Shingrix® for immunocompromised patients

Shingles is a painful and difficult disease, but the length and severity of the disease in immunocompromised people can often be compounded and exacerbate already complex health conditions.
