Basin Energy (ASX:BSN) – GEIKIE URANIUM PROJECT EXPANSION

Basin Energy Limited (ASX:BSN) 2 mins read

Basin Energy Limited (ASX:BSN) is excited to announce the expansion of the Geikie Uranium Project (Geikie) through the addition of two new claims, encompassing a total area of 11.87km2. This strategic move brings the total project area to an impressive 350.87km2, further solidifying Basin's position as a key player in the uranium exploration sector.

The newly acquired claims are located adjacent to the highly prospective Preston Creek and Hourglass Lake prospects, where Basin is currently conducting its maiden exploration drilling, as previously announced on June 13, 2023.

These additional claims were secured through the Saskatchewan Government mineral claim process, reflecting Basin's commitment to expanding its exploration portfolio in high-potential regions.

In conjunction with the claim acquisition, Basin has engaged Geotech Limited to undertake an expansion of the existing Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic (VTEM) data coverage. This comprehensive survey will encompass the newly acquired claim areas, ensuring a seamless integration of data for a comprehensive understanding of the project's potential. The VTEM system, renowned for its effectiveness in uranium exploration within the Athabasca Basin, will enable Basin to identify discreet conductive anomalies and map lateral and vertical variations in resistivity, providing valuable insights for future exploration endeavors.

Basin’s Managing Director, Pete Moorhouse, commented:

“With Maiden drilling currently underway at Geikie, we have secured the interpreted extensions to the current drill targets via the staking of these additional claims. We eagerly await the additional VTEM data, the results of which will be compiled with any available historic exploration data and the findings from our maiden drill program to formulate the next steps for Basin."

With drilling operations already underway at Geikie, Basin remains committed to uncovering the full potential of this highly prospective uranium project. The initial drilling program will cover approximately 2,000 meters and entail the completion of eight drill holes.

As Basin Energy continues to advance its exploration activities, the company remains dedicated to responsible and sustainable practices, adhering to all regulatory guidelines and prioritizing environmental stewardship.
