Bupa appoints Nick Stone as Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific

26 JULY 2 mins read

Bupa has today announced the appointment of Nick Stone as Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific (APAC).

Mr Stone has been serving as the Acting CEO for Bupa APAC since the end of March this year, when Bupa’s previous APAC CEO, Hisham El-Ansary, stepped down. Building on his performance as Acting CEO, Mr Stone will now spearhead Bupa APAC’s strategic delivery with an enhanced focus on Bupa’s customers, residents, and people.

Prior to this role, Mr Stone was Bupa APAC’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He joined Bupa Australia and New Zealand in September in 2018 as Group Financial Controller, before becoming CFO in April 2019.

Before joining Bupa, Mr Stone was CFO at Marlin Brands, a leading Australian homewares company, and General Manager, Commercial Finance at Medibank. He also worked for 10 years at Energy Australia in several senior roles and has international experience from time spent working in the UK and Kazakhstan, predominantly in the oil and gas sector.

Bupa Group CEO Iñaki Ereño said: “Nick has shown strong leadership over the last few months, successfully guiding Bupa APAC through an important transition period.  Under Nick’s leadership, Bupa APAC has maintained its focus on serving our members, customers and residents, and I know he is deeply committed to growing our business in the region.”

Mr Stone said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to be appointed as Bupa APAC CEO. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the talented people at Bupa APAC, Iñaki Ereño and my colleagues at Bupa Group, our local Executive Leadership Team and Board, and many external stakeholders for their support and confidence in my leadership. I am looking forward to delivering on our strategy and ensuring exceptional value for our customers and residents.”

Bupa Australia and New Zealand Chairman, Bryan Mogridge, said: “Nick is a proven leader who knows our business and who has consistently delivered strong results. He has also helped our members through some challenging health and economic conditions in recent times. I know that under his leadership Bupa will continue to grow as a healthcare leader in the APAC region.”
