Inside the Lazy Girl Dinner TikTok Craze: Cooking with Minimal Effort

EveryPlate 2 mins read

On those lazy evenings, the all too familiar, “So, what do you fancy for tea?” pops up, often followed by a sigh, and a back-and-forth of "I dunno, what d’you feel like?”

It’s a common dilemma and TikTok may have solved it (well, until next time) - the platform is bursting with inspiration, and the ‘lazy girl dinner’ trend is here to save you when the last thing you want to do is spend the next hour or two slaving away in the kitchen.

With an impressive 159.3M views overall, the term Lazy Girl Meals has taken TikTok by storm, as well as, #lazygirldinner which has also gained a substantial 73.1M views in total. It’s clear that Gen Z are searching for creative ways to whip up quick and easy dinners without having to resort to ready meals and takeaways every time.

User @just.jueit made this lazy girl pasta bake as part of her lazy girl dinner series which has accumulated 1M views overall.

Another user @sierra.honeycutt, says if you’re feeling kinda lazy but fancy a home cooked meal, you can use minimal ingredients to make this lazy girl ravioli

A spokesperson from meal-box delivery company, EveryPlate says:

“Sometimes, it's perfectly okay to relish a lazy dinner without the added fuss. Embrace simplicity and nourishment hand in hand. For a lazy, yet healthy meal, consider trying a speedy stir-fry with minimal effort, whipping up a wholesome wrap bursting with flavours, or a no-bake pasta salad that's both refreshing and satisfying. Remember, it's the little steps that make a big difference in balancing ease and wellness.”
