New Board Director for Chartered Accountants ANZ

Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) welcomes Peeyush Gupta AM FAICD to its board of directors. His appointment took effect on 1 July 2023.

CA ANZ Board Chair John Palermo said Mr Gupta brings extensive corporate governance experience, having served as a director on a range of corporate, not-for-profit, trustee and responsible entity boards.

“Peeyush Gupta is an excellent addition to the CA ANZ board. His governance experience from a range of different companies and boards, and his service to business which saw him awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), will be an asset as we focus on delivering for our Members,” he said.

Mr Gupta’s vast experience includes Chair of Charter Hall Long Wale REIT and Charter Hall Direct Property Management Ltd, a non-executive Director of National Australia Bank, Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), Link Administration, NSW Cancer Council and Northern Territory Aboriginal Investment Corporation (NTAIC). He also chairs or serves on various sub-committees in risk, audit, remuneration, technology and investment.

He is also the co-founder and inaugural CEO of IPAC Securities – a wealth management firm providing financial advice and institutional portfolio management in Australia and internationally.

Mr Gupta said his focus as a CA ANZ board member will be on supporting CA ANZ’s professional standards functions and commitment to member services.

“The profession has long been highly respected and maintaining trust is imperative. At the same time, the profession needs to evolve and consider how best to proactively address issues such as cyber security, and to embrace contemporary opportunities in AI and new technologies.

“As well as upholding the profession’s commitment to ethical behaviour and conduct, we need to support our Members through micro courses across areas that are key for their clients’ success,” he said.

Mr Gupta is a Fellow with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD). He holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the Australian Graduate School of Management, University of NSW. He is also an alumnus of Harvard and London Business Schools.
