TikTok’s Mediterranean Diet Obsession: Three Must-Try Recipes

HelloFresh 3 mins read

Are you fancying something a little lighter this winter?

When you think of Mediterranean recipes you don’t typically think of winter cuisine. Nevertheless, here in Australia, our winter climate shares similarities with Mediterranean regions such as Greece and Sicily.

Recently, the diet has been blowing up again on TikTok, with #mediterraneandiet clocking up 195.8M views overall on the platform. Its focus on fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats attracts those seeking a balanced and sustainable approach to eating.

User @labrini.nutrition, an Australian nutritionist who focuses on the Mediterranean diet, uploaded her What I ate this day video, gaining 134.4K views.

She had a small breakfast snack plate with nuts, raspberries, and edam-style cheese, followed by a tuna potato salad for lunch.Throughout the day, she enjoyed snacks like chopped banana with peanut butter and hummus with sugar snap peas and crackers.

For dinner, she ate pan-seared trout with roasted vegetables and potatoes (sadly she had no feta). She stated this is one day and doesn't represent her entire diet.

Another user, @sailor_bailey accumulated 1M views in just a month with her Mediterranean-inspired flatbread recipe which is topped with homemade hummus, roasted red peppers, olives, red onion, artichoke hearts and a sprinkle of mozzarella.

The team at HelloFresh have provided three Mediterranean recipes that are perfect for winter if you’re seeking a lighter option:

Honey-Thyme Haloumi & Roast Veggie Freekeh

With Creamy Pesto Dressing

Baked Chermoula Chicken
