COLES LIQUOR CROWNS CHAMPION TRADITIONAL IPA AT BREWCON

Award will see Seven Mile Brewing stocked at First Choice Liquor Market stores in NSW

Seven Mile Brewing’s West Coast IPA will now be ranged through select First Choice Liquor Market stores in New South Wales after being crowned Champion Traditional India Pale Ale at the Independent Beer Association’s annual BrewCon event overnight.

Impressing a panel of judges, the family owned and operated brewery on the New South Wales Northern Rivers took home the award sponsored by Coles Liquor for its West Coast IPA.

Coles Liquor Business Category Manager for Beer Nick McArdle presented the trophy to Seven Mile Brewing and congratulated them on their award-winning brew that demonstrates the high standard of independent beer being made in this country.

“We understand the huge effort that goes into making a great-tasting craft beer, and we’re proud to be supporting brewers just like Seven Mile Brewing by ranging them at First Choice Liquor Market stores in New South Wales. We’re sure our customers are going to love this IPA as much as the judges did,” said Nick.

“We’re passionate about craft beer and supporting local. In fact, our customers will find the majority of beers that took home a trophy at this year’s BrewCon, such as Bricklane Brewing Co, Moon Dog Craft Brewery and Aether Brewing, in our stores” he said.

Speaking earlier at the event held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Nick McArdle also announced that Coles Liquor will be adding the Independent Brewers Association’s logo to all products sold online from this week. This seal will allow Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market and Vintage Cellars customers to easily distinguish beers made by Australian independent brewers.

Independent Brewers Association CEO Kylie Lethbridge praised Coles Liquor for their commitment to supporting the independent breweries, many of whom have been feeling the pinch due to cost-of-living pressures and an increase in the cost of raw material.

“Coles Liquor has a strong history of supporting independent brewers and we’re grateful they are taking the voluntary step of displaying our logo on all local beers sold online. Seeing the IBA seal will make it easier for customers to support local and ensure Aussie breweries can continue to make delicious craft beer for many years to come,” said Kylie.

“The prize of being ranged within First Choice Liquor Market stores in New South Wales is an incredible opportunity for Seven Mile Brewing to grow their brand and allow new drinkers to discover their delicious IPA,” she said.

In Coles Liquor’s latest range review, independent breweries made up more than 80% of new craft beers. This takes the total number of craft beers available across Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market and Vintage Cellars to more than 800,  up 11% compared to last financial year.

More recently Coles Liquor has collaborated with independent brewers including Black Hops, Moon Dog, Matsos and Mismatch with their Tinnies brand and have supported Brewmanity in the fight against motor neurone disease. First Choice Liquor Market is the also the platinum sponsor of GABS Hottest 100.
