Intra Energy Corporation (ASX:IEC) Exploration Commences at Llama Lithium Project, James Bay

Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX:IEC) 2 mins read

Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX:IEC) (“IEC” or the “Company”) is delighted to announce the commencement of ground-based fieldwork at its Llama Lithium Project (“Llama” or the “Project”) in the James Bay Region of Québec, Canada. The Company’s geological services partner in Canada, Dahrouge Geological Consulting (“DGC”), has initiated exploration activities targeting up to 120 pegmatite formations that have been identified for analysis during IEC’s maiden ground campaign.

Key Highlights

  • Resumption of Activities: With the lifting of forest fire restrictions by Québec’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (“MERN”), field activities have resumed at the Llama Lithium Project.

  • Scope of Exploration: DGC is spearheading the exploration activities aimed at identifying high-priority drill targets among up to 120 pegmatite targets.

  • Regional Prominence: Recent discoveries by neighbouring companies, Loyal Lithium Ltd (ASX:LLI) and Brunswick Exploration Inc (TSX-V:BR1), underscore the significance of the James Bay region as a globally important lithium district.

Detailed Overview

The first stage of the exploration is being conducted by DGC, who have deployed an experienced team onsite to investigate the target areas identified in the recent desktop analysis. This analysis unveiled 108 new potential outcrops, supplementing the original 12 pegmatites identified during the acquisition of the Llama Lithium Project (refer ASX release dated 8th August 2023).

Fieldwork will focus on testing mapped pegmatites and pegmatite granites that could potentially host mineralisation. The aim of this exploration is to provide a more thorough understanding of the geology, setting the stage for the identification of high-priority drill targets.

Regional Context

Recent announcements from neighbouring companies Loyal Lithium Limited (ASX:LLI) and Brunswick Exploration Inc (TSX-V:BRW) have signalled the re-opening of the region, easing concerns over accessibility. Loyal Lithium’s Trieste Project is located to the south of Llama, while Brunswick Exploration’s Mirage Project is to the north.

Future Steps

An update will be provided upon the completion of this exploratory phase. The Company is committed to transitioning to the exploratory drilling phase at the earliest opportunity, in collaboration with DGC.

IEC Managing Director, Benjamin Dunn, said, “This is a great step forward for the Company and its shareholders as we commence exploration at the Llama Lithium Project in James Bay, Québec, Canada. Our preparations including thorough data analysis have paved the way for a strategic exploration approach and we look forward to sharing those results to the market soon.”
