NORTH COAST BUSINESS DELIVERS FOR DAFFODIL DAY

Coffs businessman Mark Dugdale will continue a long tradition when he helps Cancer Council deliver for this year’s Daffodil Day.

Next week’s annual Cancer Council fundraiser (August 31) will see the Aramex regional franchisee and his team ensure truckloads of the spring blooms are delivered to the charity’s North Coast supporters.

Memories of his late uncle Ken Dugdale, a champion athlete who died of throat cancer a decade ago, are never far away - but come into focus more strongly on Daffodil Day.

“Cancer is all around us … my uncle never smoked and his death affected us greatly,” Mr Dugdale, 46, said.

“My mother and stepfather are always getting skin cancers cut out.

“One way or another, cancer touches us all and I’m really happy to support Cancer Council again on Daffodil Day.

“It’s a nice way to celebrate spring and help a good cause at the same time.”

Aramex’s regional vice president (Oceania) Andy van der Velde said the company was absolutely delighted to once again partner with Cancer Council to deliver flowers for Daffodil Day.

“I urge everyone to get behind Daffodil Day and send a message of hope to everyone affected by cancer, or working hard to make it history,” Mr van der Velde said.

Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day site delivery lead Bobbie Crosland said it was hoped this year’s annual fundraiser would generate more than $2.5 million in donations.

For all that cancer takes, give all you can this Daffodil Day,” Ms Crosland said.

“The daffodil is the international symbol of hope for everyone impacted by cancer.

“A big thank you to Aramex for supporting us in delivering our daffodils across NSW.

“Every dollar raised through Daffodil Day helps fund world-class cancer research, saving lives and bringing us closer to a cancer-free future.”

Media Release March 20, 2023 Vision Australia welcomes fines for TTSS refusals Fines for taxi providers who refuse to accept fares from passengers using the Taxi Transport (TTSS) Subsidy Scheme have been welcomed by Vision Australia. Australia must strengthen its safety net as unemployment and prices rise

As prices and unemployment rises, the Federal Government must go beyond routine indexation and substantially lift income support payments to strengthen our safety net and help people on the lowest incomes, ACOSS says. “With the conflict in the Middle East increasing fuel costs and risking rises in the price of groceries and energy, Australia needs a strong safety net that protects people from poverty,” ACOSS CEO Dr Cassandra Goldie said. Pensions and allowance payments like JobSeeker increase today due to routine indexation that occurs twice per year. This routine indexation delivers a CPI increase of just $7.55 per week, or…
