NORTHERN RIVERS LOCAL TIPS SECOND SPOT IN $25,000 NATIONAL JACKPOT

Northern Rivers region local Ron McGregor has taken out second spot in the Sportspick Punters Challenge Championship.

Run over 10 weeks, the Championship was a Sportspick funded national competition that supported the weekly Saturday Punters Challenge tipping competition, which runs in local pubs and hotels across the country.

Patrons play in their local venue competition, giving them a chance to use their horse race tipping skills to win the weekly local jackpot and go into the draw for the national Punters Challenge Championship final, with a total prize pool of $25,000.

McGregor, who calls Grafton District Services Club his local, placed second out of more than 34,000 submissions to claim his prize of $5,000.

"What started off as an initiative to help venues attract more patrons and further engage their regulars, has really taken off. The way that venue operators have embraced the competition speaks volumes, and we’ve had so much interest from venues that are now wanting to host the weekly Punters Challenge on Sportspick, regardless of the Championship. They’ve seen the uplift in the impact for their Saturday trade, and the energy that the Saturday tipping staple has brought amongst their patrons." said Gregg Downward, Head of Sports Engagement, Sportspick.

The second season of Punters Challenge Championship jumps off on Saturday 19 August, at participating Sportspick venues across the country.
