Critical Minerals Group (ASX:CMG) – Drilling commences at Lindfield Vanadium Project

Critical Minerals Group Limited (ASX:CMG) 2 mins read

Critical Minerals Group Limited has begun a targeted drill program at their primary Lindfield Vanadium Project in Northwest Queensland. This program aims to obtain ore samples for pilot scale testing. Here are the main points:

Location: The Lindfield Vanadium Project is situated 30km from Julia Creek in Northwest Queensland.

Resource Estimate: The project has a JORC Indicated and Inferred Resource estimate of 363mt @ 0.43% V₂O₅ and 4.8% Al2O3. This includes an Indicated Resource of 254mt @ 0.44% V₂O5. The deposit features shallow outcrops from the surface and is part of the Toolebuc Formation.

Infrastructure: The project benefits from nearby grid power, road and rail systems, and water.

Drilling Program: The drilling plan involves 20 x 4C (100mm) core holes to obtain ore samples for a Vanadium Processing Pilot Plant (VPPP). An 8C (200mm) core hole has also been successfully drilled to provide more sample material and enhance drilling options for orebody sample recovery.

Purpose: The recent positive test results have propelled the testing program to the next phase of metallurgical testing in a pilot-scale test plant. The pilot-scale test work is currently being organized, with the anticipation that the material will be utilized in the VPPP in the first half of the 2024 calendar year, following the completion of result assaying.

Upcoming Work: Additional metallurgical tests are scheduled for the December Quarter. The outcomes will help determine the parameters for the VPPP testing in H1 2024.

Geological Understanding: The drilling program will also enhance the geological comprehension of the orebody at the Lindfield Vanadium Project, especially in the area where initial mining is projected to commence.

Commenting on the drilling program, Critical Minerals Group Managing Director, Scott Winter said:

“With the recently announced metallurgical results coming from the upper parts of the orebody we have been encouraged by how well we have been able to enrich and achieve great concentrate grades with a minimal amount of test work. This has given us the confidence to plan and implement a further drill program targeted at generating enough ore body samples to plan for a larger-scale pilot-scale processing test program. The material will also give us the ability to further refine the existing flow sheet and define the parameters for the pilot scale.”

This initiative by Critical Minerals Group Limited signifies their commitment to advancing the Lindfield Vanadium Project and harnessing its potential.
