Darling, Shine! Announces ‘TOUCH YOUR TITS’ Breast Cancer Campaign 2023

Reale 2 mins read

TOUCH YOUR TITS IS A DARLING SHINE INITIATIVE CREATED TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE NATIONAL BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION AND HELP THOSE AFFECTED BY BREAST CANCER THROUGH EARLY DETECTION AND SUPPORT SERVICES.

Melbourne, 21 September 2023: “Touch your Tits” is a Darling Shine initiative created by Hosts of Darling Shine the Podcast, Chloe Fisher and Ellidy Pullin to raise funds and awareness for the for the national breast cancer foundation and help those affected by breast cancer through early detection and support services.

Breast cancer is the world's most prevalent cancer and early detection is key. Darling Shine’s ‘Touch Your Tits’ initiative is a reminder to get in touch (literally) with your breasts regularly and know what feels normal for your body. If one becomes aware of any new lumps or bumps, the podcasters urge you to visit your local GP and get checked.

Through Breast Cancer Awareness month, hosts of Darling Shine the Podcast, Chloe Fisher and Ellidy Pullin recently interviewed a young woman, Bianca Innes, who battled breast cancer at just 20 years old, as a matter of fact, she was the youngest woman in Australia ever diagnosed. But she’s not alone. Each year around 1000 young women (under 40) are diagnosed with breast cancer. This conversation, with Bianca, triggered so many emotions for the girls, and, as a result, this initiative was born.

To shed more light on Breast Cancer Awareness month and Darling Shine have designed two exclusive ‘Touch Your Tits’ tee shirts, which will be available for presale online from 22nd to 25th of September with 100% of the profits being donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Not everyone has access to the best care or resources while facing breast cancer. With 1 in 8 women diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, there has to be a better way. As a top-rated charity, Darling Shine’s donation to NBCF goes directly to women in need, providing them with the support they need, the resources they deserve, and a hope they can depend on. *

The Full interview with Bianca Innes will be aired on 4th October 2023

Darling Shine will also be airing a bonus episode on 6th October with Samantha Oakes, Director of Research Investment at NBCF, who will walk women through a live on-air breast examination, chat about what causes breast pain, what are the different types of breast cancer and when to seek help.

Monash panel to discuss media’s role in covering violence against women in the Global North and Global South

Monash academics will be joined by international experts for a panel discussion examining how violence against women is reported on by journalists in the Global North and Global South. The panel on Tuesday, 12 December in Melbourne will focus on the media’s role in addressing violence against women, with a particular focus on reporting during the #MeToo and COVID-19 eras. Violence against women is a global crisis, but more acutely felt in the Global South. Despite this, women located in the Global South have been largely ignored in mainstream media’s reporting of this issue. The Global South includes countries with…
