TVSN’S TOP SPRING SPRUCE UP TIPS

TVSN 5 mins read

Sydney, Australia – 1 September 2023. Spring has sprung at TVSN and to celebrate the seasonal change, TVSN shares some key Spring Spruce Tips for your wardrobe, home, garden, and beauty routine.

Wardrobe

  • Pack away winter: Store winter items: Pack away heavy winter clothing in storage bins to make room for lighter, spring attire.
  • Declutter and organise: Remove items you haven't worn in the past year, are damaged beyond repair, or no longer fit your style.
  • Keep layers light: Incorporate light layers like cardigans, or thin scarves that can easily be added or removed.
  • Florals, pastels, and Apricot Crush: Florals are back on trend and we’ll see a shift toward the 2024 colour of the year, Apricot Crush. Think about incorporating this with light blues, yellows, and greens.
  • Versatile dresses like the gorgeous range from Rubyyaya: Invest in a couple of versatile dresses that can be dressed up or down. They're effortless and can be the foundation of many outfits.
  • Sneakers: A classic wardrobe must-have - a pair of classic, fun sneakers (like these from Melbourne-based Django and Juliette) that can easily be paired with a variety of outfits and add a touch of casual chic to your spring style.

Home

  • Start with a plan: Create a list of all the tasks you want to tackle during your spring spruce up. This will help you stay focused on each task.
  • Declutter: Start decluttering each room and go through items you no longer need, use, or love within each of those rooms. Consider donating, selling, or discarding them.
  • Deep clean with Bissell: Dust and wipe down surfaces with good disinfectant including countertops, tables, shelves, wardrobes, and electronics. Remember to check the products relevant to each cleaning surface. Try the Bissell Steam Shot and Crosswave Pet HF3 Vacuum and Mop to for those stubborn surfaces.
  • Wash windows and curtains: Clean your windows inside and out and wash or dry clean all curtains or window draping to remove dust. Light some spring-scented candles from Be Enlightened to bring the outdoors, inside.
  • Kitchen appliances: Empty and clean out heavy-duty kitchen appliances like fridges, ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers. Don't forget to clean and sanitise sinks and countertops.
  • Outdoor spaces: If you have a yard or outdoor space, clean up debris, trim bushes, and prepare your garden for spring planting. Sweep and, where possible, wash porches, patios, and decks.

Garden

  • Clean Up: Clean out garden beds. Remove dead leaves, debris, and any winter mulch.
  • Soil Preparation: Test your soil's pH and amend as needed. Add compost to enrich the soil with nutrients to get ready for spring planting.
  • Pruning, mulching, and weeding: Trim back any dead or damaged branches from shrubs and trees and prune flowering shrubs after they bloom to encourage new growth. Keep up with regular weeding to prevent unwanted plants from competing with your desired plants for nutrients and space and apply a layer of mulch to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature. Add some ambient lighting from Enchanted Garden for your outside space.
  • Divide and transplant: If your perennials have become overcrowded, consider dividing and transplanting them to create healthier, more vibrant plants.
  •
  • Pest and disease prevention: Inspect your plants for signs of pests or diseases and implement preventive measures like natural predators or introducing beneficial insects.
  • Watering: As temperatures rise, adjust your watering schedule. Water deeply and less frequently to encourage strong root growth and prevent shallow root systems and try water on either side of the hottest time of day.

Beauty

  • Skincare weather update: Adjust your skincare routine to accommodate changing weather. Switch to lighter, hydrating products and incorporate a broad-spectrum SPF sunscreen to protect your skin from increasing sun exposure.
  • Exfoliation: Gently exfoliate your skin to remove dead winter skin cells and reveal a fresh, radiant complexion. Use a mild exfoliant 1-2 times a week.
  • Minimal makeup: With warmer weather, consider embracing a more natural and minimal makeup look. Tinted moisturisers can provide coverage while letting your skin breathe.
  • Lip care: Exfoliate your lips and keep them hydrated with lip balms. Choose lip colours in soft pinks, corals, or light nudes to match the season.
  • Hair care: Give your hair the best start to the warmer weather and the harsher sun with conditioning hair wraps and intense moisture treatments like the Oil of Morocco Argan range.
  • Freshen your smell: Transition to lighter, floral, or more citrus-infused scents for your perfumes or body mists to match the season's ambiance.
