COLES DELIVERS HAM-AZING VALUE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Award winning Coles Single Smoked Beechwood Half-Leg Ham lowered to $8.00 per kg this year

Launching in the supermarket aisles today, Coles is offering great value this Christmas by lowering the price of its award-winning and best-selling Coles brand Single Smoked Beechwood Half-Leg Ham to $8.00 per kg, making it the perfect centrepiece to any festive feast.

As part of Coles’ commitment to offer Christmas delights for every budget, the supermarket is offering a saving of 50 cents per kilogram compared to last year. The average size four-kilogram half-leg ham will cost around $32 and serve a gathering of up to 20 people, which is great value at just over $1.50 per serve.

Aussies looking to impress their family and friends should look no further than the Australian sow stall free pork, lightly smoked for a traditional flavour and perfect for Christmas Day lunch and Boxing Day leftovers.  The sumptuous staple was awarded a bronze medal at the 2022 Sydney Fine Food Show and will be a key feature in many customers’ celebrations.

Coles General Manager of Meat, Deli and Seafood Martin Smithson said the supermarket was delighted to offer customers great value on quality hams with the festive season starting price of $8 per kilo being the lowest for this type of ham for four years[1].

“At Coles, we know the importance food has in bringing us all together to create an extraordinary experience, but we also know that it’s been a difficult year for Aussies who are continuing to feel the effects of cost-of-living, which is why this Christmas we’ve stepped up our offering with great value on a classic Christmas Day staple,” Martin said.

“We’re incredibly proud of our must-have, 100% Australian and sow stall free Single Smoked Beechwood Ham and we’re excited to offer customers the opportunity to spend less on their ham than last year.”

With all Coles Brand Christmas Hams 100% Australian, Coles takes pride in its long-standing relationships with Australian suppliers Primo.

Australian Pork Limited Chief Executive Officer Margo Andrae said Coles’ well-established partnerships with Aussie pork farmers and suppliers have paved the way to provide customers with sustainable, great-tasting pork.

“Our Aussie pork farmers are thrilled to partner with Coles, an organisation that consistently prioritises creating sustainable, delicious pork products for its valued customers,” Margo said.

“Coles working together with pork producers not only enables them to innovate and achieve their own sustainability ambitions, but it also delivers a product that is great-tasting and the perfect addition to any festive table.”

Coles will also be offering great deals across its ham range, including Coles Double Smoked and Coles Finest Triple-Smoked Beechwood Ham, providing value and variety for customers.  For the first time ever, the Coles Finest Triple-Smoked Beechwood Ham uses certified carbon-neutral pork and is an example of Coles paving the way in sustainable, responsibly sourced pork production while providing customers with exceptional quality and flavoursome ham. All of Coles Finest Christmas hams are produced from Free-Range WA Pigs where they are raised on some of the most beautiful farmland in Western Australia.

British Veterinary Association Ends Opposition to Vegan Diets for Dogs

SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND / ACCESSWIRE / July 25, 2024 / The British Veterinary Association (BVA) has ended its opposition to (nutritionally-sound) vegan diets for dogs. Until recently, its opposition was regularly reported. However, the BVA also has a corporate partnership with Mars Petcare, which makes large sums from selling meat-based pet foods. Stated Andrew Knight, veterinary Professor of Animal Welfare: "The Mars-BVA partnership represents a significant conflict of interest. Veterinary associations have a responsibility to ensure their positions are evidence-based, up-to-date and not influenced by conflicts of interest." Following such critique, in 2023 the BVA ceased its public statements opposing vegan…
