Local Employer Shaping the Future of Electrical Industry

Kestrel (Part of the IntoWork Group) 2 mins read

Robert Boschetti has been working in the electrical industry in Albury/Wodonga for over 20 years, and founded the company Boschetti, with a sole purpose: Partnering with People, Creating Electrical Solutions.

Boschetti has grown to be an industry leader in both the full spectrum of traditional electrical services as well as the green energy space, and has now also been recognised as an outstanding host employer of apprentices.

The company has been named as a finalist in the Australian Apprentice Employment Network (AEN) Awards Large Host Employer category.

The award recognises an employer’s commitment to the Apprenticeship and Group Training system along the quality of training delivered to apprentices.

Robert believes one thing that makes them an employer of choice is their ability to offer a thorough and well-rounded education in both traditional electrical trade and green energy. Boschetti also sticks to a strict Trade to Apprentice ratio and rotates the apprentices through different sub specialisations.

Having well trained, skilled and experienced staff is vital for the continued delivery of quality services that Boschetti’s reputation is built on, but for Robert it is also about giving back to the industry. “I've got a duty to return qualified competent personnel into the industry. Not just for our business but for all businesses. As a company we have a clear strategic plan, and it includes training. We take it seriously in the sense that we create our legacy by challenging the existing legacy.”

When looking for apprentices Robert has a clear criteria. "We are looking for apprentices that share our values in order to be the right fit for me and my business.”

Robert credits Kestrel Recruitment,  part of the IntoWork Group for helping him find and employ apprentices that fit the Boschetti business. As a Group Training Organisation Kestrel recruits and employs apprentices, then places them with host employers such as Boschetti. This relationship sees Kestrel take care of administrative, training and employment responsibilities, allowing Boschetti to concentrate on their core business and their apprentice training.

"Kestrel presents us with the shortlist and conduct the background checks. They have worked closely with us ever since and understand our needs. They just want to help, and it's fantastic to have them on our team.”

Robert also emphasised how Kestrel played a vital role in Boschetti’s growth, helping transform it into top-to-bottom electrical business.

He sees the award nomination as a significant milestone, a recognition of the businesses ongoing commitment to integrity, training outcomes, and teamwork, fortifying their legacy by providing quality tradespeople to the industry.
