Breast Cancer Trials (formerly the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia), is reminding Australians that now is the time to help save lives by supporting the 2024 Australian Women's Health Diary.
All proceeds support breast cancer trials research that is identifying new treatments and prevention strategies - research that could one day save your life or the life of someone you love.
Deaths from breast cancer have fallen 30% over the past 20 years which is largely due to new treatments like Herceptin, Exemestane, Letrozole and Tamoxifen identified through the Breast Cancer Trials research program. This diary is truly saving lives.
But we still have a long way to go. Sadly in Australia, 57 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each day and a further eight lose their life to breast cancer.
Ms Julie Callaghan, Chief Operating Officer – Fundraising and Philanthropy at Breast Cancer Trials, has said that more research is urgently needed to ensure every person gets the treatment they need to survive and get back to the lives they’d planned. The Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies at the Queensland University of Technology recently studied the impact of the Breast Cancer Trials’ research program.
