Australia’s first lady of showbiz, and the most famous legs in the business, Rhonda Burchmore OAM will make her Wynnum Fringe debut next month with the premiere of the new Australian Spiegeltent show, Rhonda's After Party, and she’ll be joined by some of the best circus performers in the world including Mario Queen of The Circus, Pricasso, ‘Bath Boy’ Stephen Williams and co.
This is just one of the big things to love about the fourth Wynnum Fringe, set to take over Brisbane’s Bayside from November 15 to December 3 this year!
"Rhonda is a powerhouse, and we are honoured to have her, and Wynnum is the obvious progression from London's West End and her multi-decade success in Australia!" said Wynnum Fringe founder Tom Oliver.
“Rhonda's After Party will see Rhonda ‘hosting’ her fellow entertainers seemingly ‘after’ they have performed. This is where the real show starts! As the night - and the champagne - flows, the performers decide to show off their party tricks to each other and the other party goers - the audience. Some fly through the air above a bathtub, others paint things with their private parts. It's funny, it’s sexy and filled with twists and surprises, and songs!”
“It's been really fun putting this together with Brisbane based co-creatives Clarke McFarlane, Helen Cassidy & David Carberry. The plan is to premiere the show at Wynnum Fringe and then travel it! The fact that Wynnum Fringe has become a platform for new Australian entertainment is truly exciting!”
Asked how the show came about Tom said it was fate, and Marcia Hines!!
“Unknowingly, Rhonda and I both made a last minute decision to go and see Marcia Hines perform at Twin Towns earlier this year. We ended up being sat next to each other by Marcia's team and the show was born on that night, so thanks Marcia!”
Rhonda said she was beyond excited to be making her Wynnum debut! “Although I’ve performed extensively throughout Australia I have never played Wynnum, so when Tom invited me to do so I said “Yes “ in a heartbeat. I’m so very proud of what Tom has achieved in growing this Festival, attracting topline names and world class acts over the last four years.
“Rhonda’s After Party will be an incredibly fun and wicked night out, of song and cheekiness combined with exotic and phenomenal circus acts. I’m ready to pop the corks and get the champagne flowing and invite people to the soirée.
