Rincon Resources Limited (ASX:RCR) ("Rincon" or "the Company") is excited to share the latest results from its ongoing exploration activities at the South Telfer Project, situated in the esteemed Paterson Range, Western Australia.
Recent drilling at Mammoth, which started on 11 October 2023, has produced very promising outcomes. The first drillhole, 23STRC034, was aimed at testing a potential down-dip extension of the high-grade mineralisation observed in the historical drillhole WSA08039. This test resulted in an intersection of a 29m zone filled with brecciated quartz-sulphide mineralisation, which contains up to 5-10% of disseminated pyrite and quartz, as detailed in Table 1.
Furthermore, within the 29m mineralised zone stretching from 115m to 144m (downhole width), we also observed a 15m interval marked by albite and potassic alteration, spanning from 115m to 130m (refer to Image 1). This may signify the core of a broader zone of mineralisation. It's worth noting that this is approximately 45m down-dip of the high-grade gold intercept in WSA08039.
Figure 1 provides a clear view of the position of hole 23STRC034 relative to the historic hole WSA08039, which showed an intersection of 8m @ 3.85g/t Au from 84m, including a notable 4m @ 6.9g/t Au starting from 88m, and traces of gold from 88m through to the hole's end at 96m.
The key implications of the mineralised zone in hole 23STRC034 include:
1. The historic ‘Westin’ drillhole WSA08039 has been a primary target for further drill testing since Rincon was listed on the ASX in December 2020.
2. The 'Westin' site is situated a mere 700m southwest of the 'Mammoth' dolerite, closely associated with the structural framework currently undergoing RC drilling (as highlighted in Figure 2).
3. The elevated intercept in WSA08039 is believed to be connected with the northwest-oriented structures, akin to those witnessed at the nearby Ironclad and Dolphy deposits owned by Newcrest Mining (refer to Figure 2 for more details).
4. A strikingly similar spatial association with a dolerite intrusive formation has been observed at Ironclad and Dolphy. These are located approximately 8km northwest, following the Telfer-Westin trend.
5. 23STRC034 was devised to test for a 'Dolphy' style high-grade gold bearing structure. This was based on historical exploration reports from the Department of Mines, Industry Regulations and Safety; specifically, WAMEX Reports A62075 and A70040.
About us:
Rincon has a 100% interest in three exploration assets in Western Australia that are highly prospective for copper, gold, REE’s and other critical metals for the energy transition; these are the South Telfer Project, West Arunta Project and Laverton Project.
