Zenith Minerals (ASX:ZNC) – Drilling Commenced at Yilmia Lithium

Zenith Minerals Limited (ASX:ZNC) 2 mins read

Zenith Minerals (ASX:ZNC) is excited to announce the commencement of drilling at the Yilmia Lithium Project, located south of Coolgardie, Western Australia. This significant development highlights the potential of the region and Zenith's commitment to exploring and harnessing its resources.

Key Investment Highlights:

  • The Yilmia Lithium Project is situated in a geological setting akin to the recent Kangaroo Hills lithium pegmatite discovery by Future Battery Metals - ASX:FBM.

  • Initial findings from Zenith's first drill line confirm the extension of the greenstone host under soil cover into the project area. Notably, three holes within this drill line intersected pegmatites, with thicknesses reaching up to 20m.

  • Comprehensive geophysical data combined with historic soil geochemistry, primarily targeting nickel, suggests that the prospective greenstone sequence likely stretches under cover across an 8km long target zone.

  • Zenith is proud to be the first to test this promising area for lithium pegmatites, as no previous drill testing has been conducted in this region.

About the Yilmia Lithium Project:

The Yilmia Lithium Project is believed to encompass an 8km long greenstone package, which is deemed highly prospective for lithium pegmatites on the southern edge of the Woolgangie Monzogranite. A pronounced aeromagnetic anomaly aligns with ultramafic and mafic rock units, as indicated on government geological maps, further to the east of the Yilmia project area. This anomaly extends through the northern part of the project area, under soil cover, suggesting the greenstone belt's potential extension further west through the Yilmia project's tenure.

Historic soil sampling programs and a previous EM geophysical survey, conducted during nickel exploration, further support the presence of greenstone within the Yilmia project area. Given the absence of rock outcrop within the target zone, drill testing is imperative.

Zenith has initiated a program of approximately 3,000 to 6,000m of aircore drilling on 800m spaced lines to examine the 8km long lithium target zone. The first line of drill holes (YLAC001 – 015) completed at the project area's eastern margin intersected pegmatites up to 20m thick, within a greenstone host rock package comprising ultramafic and mafic lithologies. All assay results are currently pending.
