CIMIC Group company Leighton Asia has been selected by a leading global data centre developer and operator to deliver a new data centre in Malaysia.

CIMIC Group company Leighton Asia has been selected by a leading global data centre developer and operator to deliver a new data centre in Malaysia.

The award follows Leighton Asia working closely with the client through an early contractor involvement process, involving provision of constructability advice leading to offsite modularisation of key components to derisk the delivery of the works and ensure a high quality outcome.

Leighton Asia has completed, or is currently delivering, several data centres across the region.

CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria said: “Data centres provide critical digital infrastructure for technology customers and their end users, particularly as artificial intelligence and cloud services increase in demand. With experience in constructing, retrofitting and expanding specialist buildings to strict compliance standards, we will deliver a data centre that provides leading performance, reliability, and security.”

Leighton Asia Managing Director Brad Davey said: “We are pleased to be awarded these works by a new international client in a market that Leighton Asia knows well. As part of CIMIC Group, we have strong data centre development experience and, with a long-term local footprint in the region, we have on the ground knowledge and dedicated teams. We will ensure this project reaches its operational and sustainability targets, to sustain the future growth of the region’s digital connectivity.”
