MEDIA ALERT
Monday, 13 November, 2023

Landcare Victoria Inc., is preparing to release the landcare movement’s inaugural 10-year plan next week, at the same time, it warns the future of community landcare is at risk.

The Plan, to be launched on Monday, 20 November, sets out a blueprint for landcare’s key role in creating biodiverse, productive and resilient Victorian landscapes.

Preparing to launch the Plan, Landcare Victoria Inc. Chair Jane Carney said: “I’m really proud of the Plan and the role we can play, but we have to address the fact that we don’t have the funding security we need.

“We have an army of tens of thousands of volunteers right across the state, but without funding certainty for our 80 local facilitators and 10 regional coordinators, landcare’s future is at risk.”

The plan will be launched at a free public webinar at 11am on Monday, 20 November. The webinar is free, but RSVPs are essential via Humanitix.

In a recent letter to King Charles III, Humane Society International (HSI) Australia and Humane Society International/United Kingdom have brought the controversial practice of live lamb cutting—or ‘mulesing’—to His Majesty’s attention and are seeking his endorsement for an effective and humane solution. “As King Charles is the patron for The Campaign for Wool, and is a well-respected conservationist and lover of nature, we wanted to ensure that His Majesty was fully aware of the issue, as we seek his support for a humane solution,” said Georgie Dolphin, HSI Australia’s Animal Welfare Campaigner. “His Majesty is a keen supporter of wool…
