NEW RETURN AND EARN EXPRESS OPEN IN NORTH STRATHFIELD

Exchange for Change 2 mins read

Locals have a new location to recycle their eligible bottles and cans with the opening of a Return and Earn Express on Concord Road in North Strathfield.

The new shopfront-style return point features three Return and Earn machines in an indoor setting, making it easy to recycle all year round.

This will be the fifth return point in the City of Canada Bay, providing the local community with greater access to redeem their eligible drink containers for the 10c refund.

City of Canada Bay residents are enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 109 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, the network operator for the scheme.

Recyclers can print a voucher for the refund amount which can be redeemed for cash at Woolworths, or they opt for an e-voucher or payment directly into their bank account or PayPal account using the Return and Earn app.

Locals can also donate their refund to a charity partner featured on the machine or one of the many charities listed on the Return and Earn app.

Brothers in Need will be featured as the initial local donation partner on the North Strathfield machine, with funds raised through Return and Earn, supporting their important work in the community.

Return and Earn has become a key fundraising channel for many charities and community groups across NSW. More than $47 million has been raised from donations and fees from hosting return points since the scheme was launched.

The current state-wide Return and Earn donation appeal listed on all machines across the state supports the RFS Benevolent Fund, a charity created to provide support to RFS members and their families during challenging times.

More than 10.5 billion bottles, cans and cartons have been returned for recycling through the network of around 620 return points across NSW since the scheme began in 2017, resulting in over $1.05 billion in refunds back in people’s pockets.

“I encourage everyone to make ‘returning and earning’ part of your weekly routine. Together we can all do our bit to contribute to a more sustainable future where materials are kept in the loop and out of landfill and the litter stream,” Mr Dorney said.

Return and Earn Express North Strathfield is located at 173 Concord Road, North Strathfield and is open from 7am to 6pm daily.
