REINDEER READY: COLES GIFTS FREE CARROTS FOR SANTA’S
HUNGRY SLEIGH TEAM

Aussie growers donate 50 tonnes of carrots to fuel reindeer’s most important journey

Coles and Aussie growers have once again partnered to fuel the magic of Christmas this festive season with a free giveaway that is set to inspire customers to join in the holiday spirit and ensure Santa’s loyal companions are well fed before their journey around the world.

From today until Sunday 24 December, customers nationwide can collect a free ‘reindeer carrot’ from a designated collection point when exiting their local Coles store, ready to leave out on Christmas Eve for Rudolph and his fellow hard-working reindeer as a healthy, crispy treat.

Five Aussie growers from across the country have donated more than 50 tonnes of Santa’s reindeer’s favourite snack — the equivalent weight of around eight African elephants — helping them to get the job done this Christmas Eve.

These special reindeer carrots are growers’ surplus stock and may be a little wonky or blemished, but are perfect for Rudolf and his team, and will help to reduce food waste in the lead up to Christmas.

Coles Business Category Manager for Vegetables, Jason Colosimo, said the supermarket was proud to bring back this in-store initiative for the third year running and repurpose food that would otherwise be destined for waste.

“At Coles, we believe in the magic of Christmas and the joy it brings to families, and our reindeer carrots is a small way of adding a touch of enchantment to the holiday season, making it memorable for both children and adults alike,” Colosimo said.

“This free giveaway is part of our commitment to community and to creating a positive experience for customers this Christmas.”

Reindeer carrots are 100% Santa approved and are available from 10am Friday 22 December until stocks last.

British Veterinary Association Ends Opposition to Vegan Diets for Dogs

SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND / ACCESSWIRE / July 25, 2024 / The British Veterinary Association (BVA) has ended its opposition to (nutritionally-sound) vegan diets for dogs. Until recently, its opposition was regularly reported. However, the BVA also has a corporate partnership with Mars Petcare, which makes large sums from selling meat-based pet foods. Stated Andrew Knight, veterinary Professor of Animal Welfare: "The Mars-BVA partnership represents a significant conflict of interest. Veterinary associations have a responsibility to ensure their positions are evidence-based, up-to-date and not influenced by conflicts of interest." Following such critique, in 2023 the BVA ceased its public statements opposing vegan…
