Canberra Writers Festival seeks a CEO

Canberra Writers Festival 2 mins read

The Canberra Writers Festival (CWF) is searching for a dynamic and passionate Chief Executive Officer to help co-write its next chapter.

CWF aims to bring Canberra audiences – and the audiences CWF brings to Canberra – together in a vibrant literary conversation both at the Festival and now throughout the year.

“The disruption of the pandemic was profound for festivals across the country – and we are no exception,” Chair of the Festival’s board, Ms Jane O’Dwyer said.

“We're dedicated to ensuring that Canberra has a writers’ festival that's deeply embedded in the fabric of this wonderful city, that provides the spaces to explore big questions, and celebrates the heft and craft of Australian storytellers,” says Ms O’Dwyer.

“We're looking for a well-rounded and energetic CEO to help us embed for the long term a Festival that's the pride of Canberra, and  an unmissable event for lovers of books, writing and ideas across Australia.

“The CEO will collaborate closely with Artistic Director Beejay Silcox to bring to life her artistic vision of a festival that's a joyful collision of innovative art-makers, big thinkers, big dreamers and avid readers.

“We were delighted to present Behrouz Boochani in conversation with Amy Remeikis at the National Press Club of Australia in November and to announce our new partnership with the National Sound and Film Archive this week. Under Beejay’s artistic direction, we're looking forward to presenting a program of wonderful literary events throughout the year, and of course, a sparkling Festival.

“The Board is enormously grateful to outgoing Festival Director Paul Donohoe, who poured energy, effort and passion into the Festival over 6 years, particularly through the testing days of the pandemic,” Ms O’Dwyer said.

Aspiring applicants are directed to https://www.seek.com.au/job/73112298 for more information on the role and to apply by 2 February 2024.

 Ends.
