“The Trump win in New Hampshire all but guarantees he will become the Republican nominee for the November election against President Biden. Nikki Haley will push on but it is unlikely she will be nominated unless the legal proceedings against Trump open a window for her. It appears that the US is setting up for an unprecedented election with the two oldest candidates ever to run for office.

 

“The New Hampshire primary result demonstrates the full extent of Donald Trump’s stranglehold on the Republican party. There is no doubt that he has radically changed the GOP and, win or lose in November, his policy positions will reverberate for years to come in Republican circles.”

Essential workers struggling to afford rents

A new report revealing the unaffordability of housing for Australia’s essential workers underscores the urgent need for bold government action to end the crisis, Everybody’s Home said. Released on Anti-Poverty Week (13-19 October), Anglicare’s special edition of the Rental Affordability Snapshot shows less than one percent of rentals are affordable for full-time workers in hospitality, construction and early childhood.
