Vasey RSL Care Secures Veterans Home Care Contract with Federal Government: “aligned with our Mission”

Vasey RSL Care is proud to announce that it has been awarded a Veterans Home Care (VHC) contract with the Federal Government. Vasey RSL Care has over 20 years’ experience in the provision of home care, providing home care services to approximately 250 clients with the majority in the metropolitan Melbourne region.

The Veterans Home Care (VHC) program provides essential home care services for the health, wellbeing and independence of eligible veterans and their families. These services encompass a range of support, including domestic help, personal care, respite care, home and garden maintenance and lawn mowing.

Rich Davey, General Manager Community Services at Vasey RSL Care, who oversees the management of the organisation’s provision of home care said, “This is fantastic news for our organisation: Vasey RSL Care is experienced both in supporting the veteran community and in providing home care. It makes sense for us to serve this community on behalf of Government and we look forward to assisting these veterans to live comfortably and remain at home in their older years.”

Glen Iris residents Leonie and Geoffrey Christopherson have been home care clients of Vasey RSL Care for many years and said that staying in their own home meant everything to them. “We spent our life travelling around for Geoff’s army service, so when we settled in Glen Iris, we wanted to stay here for good. We would not have been able to do that without Vasey RSL Care’s help.”

Ms Christopherson said, “Home Care Packages can be really chaotic to navigate, and I was certainly overwhelmed at trying to organise the services myself. When Vasey RSL Care took over the organising, I felt relieved and like all the stress had gone away: the assistance they have provided us has been priceless.”

With Vasey RSL Care’s assistance, the Christophersons are now able to maintain their independence and quality home life with a support program in place and services organised for them.

Janna Voloshin, Chief Executive Officer at Vasey RSL Care, expressed the organisation's delight at being awarded this contract, stating, “We are very pleased to become a Veteran Home Care provider. We are one of Victoria’s most experienced providers of accommodation and services to the veteran community and this service is perfectly aligned with our Mission to Serve Those Who Served.”

Vasey RSL Care is committed to continuing its tradition of excellence in delivering care and support to veterans, and adding Veteran Home Care to the range of services further solidifies its position as a trusted partner in serving the needs of those who have served our country.

Eligibility for the VHC program is limited to those requiring low levels of care, and it is not intended for individuals in need of high or complex care. To inquire about these services, individuals are encouraged to contact the VHC Assessment Agency on 1300 550 450.

The Royal Australian College of GPs will welcome 88 new fellows as specialist GPs in South Australia at a ceremony on Saturday 19 October, which will also celebrate the state’s annual RACGP Award winners. Fellowship of the RACGP (FRACGP) reflects a doctor’s qualification and expertise as a specialist GP and is the culmination of around 11 years of education, training, rigorous assessment, and experience in primary care. ACT Labor’s proposed walk-in centres expansion leaves cost and care questions unanswered: RACGP

The Royal Australian College of GPs (RACGP) has reiterated its call for the next ACT government to commit to an independent evaluation of the ACT nurse-led walk-in centres. With ACT Labor announcing an expansion of centres which are reportedly bleeding taxpayers’ money, ahead of this Saturday’s election, the RACGP also gave its assessment of parties’ primary care policies. An independent evaluation of the centres has been a core pillar of the RACGP’s ACT election platform since before a Canberra Times investigation revealed health officials had “buried” $10 million in expenses. Emails obtained under a Canberra Times freedom of information request…
