CIMIC’s CPB Contractors selected for Defence Department’s Army Aviation Program of Works in Townsville

Defence Department's Army Aviation Program of Works in Townsville

CIMIC Group’s CPB Contractors has been selected by the Australian Government’s Department of Defence to undertake the Army Aviation Program of Works at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Townsville.

In line with the objectives of the Defence Strategic Review, works will include the upgrade or rebuild of infrastructure and facilities to support the relocation of both the 1st Aviation Regiment from Robertson Barracks and the 16th Aviation Brigade from Gallipoli Barracks to RAAF Base Townsville, Queensland.

The design stage will commence in early 2024, and subject to government approvals, transition to construction in mid-2025, taking three years to complete.

The Army Aviation Program of Works has a project value of approximately $370 million.

CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria said: “This important program of works supports the Australian Defence Force’s ability to operate from Australia’s northern bases. CPB Contractors has extensive experience in working with the Department of Defence to enhance and sustain base environments and operational capability. We are pleased to play a role in creating an Army aviation centre of excellence in Townsville.”
