Have I got your attention?

Pascale Media 2 mins read

Asking ‘have I got your attention?’ Wundes debuts their original music with their band Next Best Feeling in Unplugged a queer coming of age story and rock opera about a daydreamer who has forever fantasised about who and what they could be.

Unplugged incorporates immersive theatre, live performance, music and comedy. By looking to the past, it critiques our relationship with media through the blending of drag, live music and projection. Unplugged intends to prompt audiences to question how technology is changing our relationships with one another and in turn, our own identities. Using immersive media and lighting, audiences will be transported into a genre defying audio-visual journey.

“I am so excited – and nervous – to be debuting my original work this Adelaide Fringe”, says Wundes. “Performing in front of a home audience is always fun, but this year will have a real edge to it.”

Wundes is a singer/songwriter and Adelaide’s leading drag performer who mixes a unique and captivating style of live performance with an everlasting love for nostalgia. They have developed their artistic style over the past ten years, performing all over Australia while living and working on Kaurna land. Whether it be laugh-out-loud comedy or stopping the room with a gut-wrenching piano ballad, Wundes never ceases to dazzle and bewitch.

For the first time, Wundes debut their own original music accompanied by their live band “Next Best Feeling”. With influences that range from Judy Garland to Jeff Buckley, Kate Bush to Talking Heads & Lana Del Rey to My Chemical Romance, expect to be taken on a sonic and visual journey filled with music and comedy that will leave you laughing, crying and with a sense of new-found hope.

Government must support LGBTQIA+ human rights defenders, says Australian aid peak

Media release | Friday, 17 May 2024Today marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), a timely reminder to advocate and take action for LGBTQIA+ rights across the world. Despite decades of progress on LGBTQIA+ rights in many countries, from decriminalisation to recognition of same-sex marriage, including in Australia, rights have become increasingly under threat in recent years. This comes at a time when democracy around the world is in regression. In 2024, there are at least 67 countries around the world which have laws that criminalise homosexuality, including new discriminatory legislation in at least three countries…

Budget lights a path to virtual elimination of HIV transmission

The Albanese Government has made a strong stride towards the virtual elimination of HIV transmission with tonight’s $43.9 million Budget commitment to expand access to PrEP, roll out HIV self-testing, deepen the connection with culturally diverse communities and provide additional resources for the HIV workforce, according to Health Equity Matters, Australia’s HIV and LGBTIQA+ health federation. The funding will support the national roll-out of self testing vending machines, which have already proved successful in reaching communities that need to test more frequently.
