The annual Steps for STEPS charity walk is back Friday March 8th, when STEPS Pathways College students, trainers, and volunteers will take to the pavement together and walk an impressive 30km to raise funds for the college.
92.7 MIXFM breakfast show hosts Mark Darin and Caroline Hutchinson will be walking alongside whilst recording their morning broadcast live, beginning at the MIXFM office in Maroochydore and finishing at the STEPS College Campus at 9 George Street, Caloundra.
This year STEPS Pathways Boarding and Day College students will participate in the walk, with some experienced students like Josh Harvey determined to tackle the entire 30km.
Funds raised from the event will go directly towards supporting the students at STEPS Pathways College, Australia’s only boarding college for young adults living with a disability and autism.
STEPS Executive Manager of Business Partnerships Michael Williamson said fundraising events like Steps for STEPS were vital for the college.
“Generous donations like these ensure students at STEPS Pathways College are given the opportunity learn essential life skills to live independently in the community.
“The students are incredible humans, and I am so proud to walk beside them.”
The walk will kick off at 6am from the 92.7 MIXFM office and finish around 4pm at STEPS, with students crossing the finish line at their campus to celebrate their outstanding achievement with STEPS staff, sponsors, and fellow students.
There will be excellent opportunities to cheer on the students as they make their way through Cotton Tree, Alexandra Headland, Mooloolaba, along the Nicklin Way through Moffat Beach, Kings Beach and along Bulcock St before finishing at the STEPS front gates.
Students have worked with staff to create their own fundraising page, personalising it with a heartwarming bio and photo, with each hoping to meet their fundraising goal of $2000.
