The Honourable Nicola Roxon and Rachel Yang live in conversation at UN Women Australia's International Women’s Day event in Melbourne on 8 March.
[Melbourne, 09 February 2024] – UN Women Australia welcomes The Hon. Nicola Roxon, Chair of HESTA and Rachel Yang, Partner at Giant Leap to their International Women’s Day events, live in conversation in Melbourne.
Audiences will have the unique opportunity to hear from two influential leaders who have made significant contributions to the fields of law, finance, investment and social impact.
The Hon. Roxon, Australia’s first female Attorney-General and current Chair of HESTA, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the discussion. Promoting the standing of women has been a hallmark of Roxon’s career and her leadership and advocacy have played a pivotal role in advancing gender equality and empowering women.
Ms Yang, Partner at Giant Leap, recognises the pivotal role investors play in lifting the participation rates of women in the economy. Giant Leap has consistently been named as one of the country’s leading venture capital firms for investing in women, with 60% of the fund’s portfolio companies led by women. Her unique perspectives promise to bring invaluable insights to the conversation.
“We look forward to this important conversation between Nicola Roxon and Rachel Yang that is sure to inspire action and drive real change for women and girls around the world,” said Simone Clarke, CEO, UN Women Australia.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is ‘Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress’, based on the priority theme for the United Nations 68th Commission on the Status of Women, exploring the pathways to greater economic inclusion for women and girls everywhere.
Roxon and Yang join an inspiring speaker lineup for UN Women Australia’s International Women’s Day events in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Perth. The events will also feature a national headline presentation from Michele Bullock, Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, engaging in a rare conversation about her passion for inclusion, diversity and belonging, and her perspectives on diverse and equal leadership. A live virtual stream of all events will also be available on Friday, 8 March 2024. For details and tickets, please visit iwd.net.au.
