For the first time based at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre’s Exhibition Hall 2, the International Cake Show Australia is Australia's huge cake and cookie decorating, baking and sugar art show. It takes sweet creativity to a whole new level, and is best described as an edible art gallery meets Willy Wonka’s famous factory, a food festival, culinary college and shoppers paradise!

This year it will feature more than 100 free demonstrations, celebrity chefs and sugar heroes, unbelievable huge sugar features, hands-on workshops, classes to suit every experience level, Australia’s largest cake and cookie decorating competition (and you’re invited to enter), pop up shops and more! Most activities except the paid classes, are free with the ticket entry and children 12 and under are free.

NEW FOR 2024……

? THE SUGAR HOUSE OF HORROR!! A super sweet and spooky 12m x 6m Sugar House of Horror, created by collaborating sugar artists from across the globe!

? FLORIADE MARKET! A French provincial flower shop-inspired sweet flower market, packed with wafer paper, sugar and all kinds of flowers. Sugar artists from around the globe and Australia-wide are currently creating the exhibits and on Sunday all the exhibits will be sold and the proceeds donated to the Queensland Children's Hospital.

? CLASH OF THE COOKIE TITANS! Leading cookie artists will be given a surprise  shape to decorate under pressure in front of the live audience.  They'll then invite a member of the audience to compete against them, and they will be BLINDFOLDED!

? BUMBLEBEE IS BACK! Famed Brisbane cake artist Dan Greensill is at it again! His life-sized Bumblebee car from last year has been ….. transformed (?) into a 3m high edible Transformer in action! Autobots, assemble!

? INTERNATIONAL CAKE OFF CHALLENGE! And this year, with a sweet double twist! Team Australia will compete against Team International, seeing six of the world's best cake sculptors battle it out for the world title and the twist is, there’s a third team - of rising stars! The theme is "Medieval with a Twist" and UK super cake artist Rosie Dummer, who shot to fame for creating the life-size edible Paddington Bear as a tribute to the late Queen, is back to host.

? BARBIE SUNDAY! Yes, there’ll be Barbie and Ken-ergy on Sunday with pink the colour of the day!  Australia’s own cake super star Verusca Walker will be demonstrating Barbie cakes for the public, live on stage.

?LEARN FROM THE PROS! There’s something for the whole family. If you’re a sweet tooth or hobby baker visit one of the five huge stages to learn from the pros. They’ll be sharing all the tricks of the trade. Get ready for a learning overload!

?HAUTE COUTURE MARQUEE! If you’re looking for something pretty, it’s the place to be. Ten of Australasia’s top wedding cake designers will be competing for the title of Australasian Haute Couture Wedding Cake Designer of the year. One of Australia’s top wedding dress designers, Brisbane based George Wu has set them a challenge. Expect BIG names and huge jaw dropping statement cakes.

International Cake Show Australia CEO, Joan McDermott said she expected another record number of competitor registrations with from across the country plus New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Bali, Indonesia, UK, Ireland, USA, Spain and the Philipines.

“There's no other competition including Ekka or the Sydney Royal Easter Show that has anywhere near our number of cake or cookie decorating entries! Similar international cake events are a huge hit internationally, attracting up to 100,000 visitors from around the globe, however there’s no other mammoth international standard cake or baking event like this anywhere else in Australia”

“This fun-filled event is a brilliant cross between food, design, colour and competition. The International Cake Show Australia is open to the public and is all about creating magic, defying possibilities and breaking boundaries. For the millions who watch Cake Boss and follow the hundreds of thousands of edible artists on social media, this event is the penultimate experience, and to have it staged here in Brisbane as the national showpiece is certainly a coup for the city,” said Joan.
