Live Interview of local Mosque Imam, local President, local Ahmadi Muslims, volunteers and guests.
Amid recent cancellations of Ramadan Iftar dinners in NSW, VIC, and more recently, that of Labor WA Senator Fatima Payman’s planned Iftar fundraising dinner that she was forced to cancel due to backlash, Nasir Mosque (Cockburn, WA) is taking a bold step towards fostering understanding. This Ramadan, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community WA extends an open invitation to all political leaders, religious figures from diverse backgrounds, and members of the public to join an Interfaith Iftar Dinner, emphasising the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and tolerance.
The initiative aims to bring people from all walks of life together, transcending religious and political differences, in a display of solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan. The president of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community WA, Mr Anjum Qaisrani believes that "maintaining open lines of communication is crucial, especially during these challenging times, to build bridges and support vulnerable communities worldwide".
Imam Wadud Janud of Nasir Mosque also emphasising the significance of unity, mutual respect, and tolerance. He said: "In the current global climate, it is more important than ever for everyone to come together and focus on our shared values. Building bridges requires dialogue and understanding, and this Iftar dinner serves as a meaningful step in that direction."
The event welcomes individuals with diverse perspectives to sit together, discuss, and learn from one another. The Ahmadiyya Muslims Community Perth aim to nurture these connections, fostering a more inclusive and understanding society.
