Kaplan Professional Australia 3 mins read

With the continued success of the High Net Worth (HNW) Certification and positive reception to the launch of the Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner (FChFP) Certification with its partner the Insurance and Financial Practitioners Association of Singapore (IFPAS), Kaplan Professional Australia has signified its intent to enter a new phase of expansion in Asia-Pacific with the announcement of Joseph Tan as Director, Business Development, Asia.

Previously the Head of Sales & Strategic Business Development, Independent Distribution Partners at Chubb Insurance Singapore Ltd., Joseph brings 16 years of distribution and business development experience in the life and general insurance industry to the leading education provider.

In addition to Chubb, Joseph has also held various senior roles at AXA Life Singapore, Prudential Assurance Company Singapore and American International Group.

In his new role at Kaplan Professional Australia, Joseph will be tasked with working closely with association partners such as IFPAS and the Asia Pacific Financial Services Council (APFinSA), and building on Kaplan Professional Australia’s rapidly growing number of corporate partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

While the continued growth of the HNW Certification, FChFP Certification and Ethics continuing professional development short course remains a key priority in Singapore, Joseph will also oversee the imminent launch of the FChFP Certification in Malaysia in partnership with the National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisors (NAMLIFA).

Kaplan Professional Australia Chief Executive Officer Brian Knight expressed his delight in Joseph’s appointment and said he would play a crucial role in opening up a broad range of corporate opportunities.

“Joseph brings to Kaplan Professional Australia a wealth of experience and an extensive network with many strong working relationships; we are thrilled to have someone of his calibre on board as we know he will play a pivotal role in our next phase of expansion in Singapore, Malaysia and Asia-Pacific more broadly.

“With Joseph’s genuine enthusiasm and passion for the industry, we look forward to seeing the excellent work that we know he will do in assisting our clients and corporate partners with their people development strategies.

“With the support of our association and corporate partners, we have continued to see tremendous growth and I am excited to see Kaplan Professional Australia establish ourselves as the leading provider of financial services education in the Asia-Pacific region,” Mr. Knight said.

Joseph said he was eager to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact with Kaplan Professional Australia.

“Education is something I have been passionate about since my school days; coupled with my core knowledge of distribution of financial services for 16 years, I look forward to being able to amalgamate my passion with my skill set to deliver excellent results.

“Kaplan Professional Australia is a renowned education provider and arguably one of the most established with its large footprint throughout the world – I am determined to help the organisation flourish in this exciting new phase of expansion in Asia-Pacific.

“I believe I will bring dedication, enthusiasm and passion to this new challenge, along with an extensive network in the financial services industry … most notably in life and general insurance,” Mr. Tan said.

Students could become ‘collateral damage’ of law changes

Government funding and industrial relations frameworks are in conflict in the higher education sector. The sector’s peak body for industrial relations, the Australian Higher Education Industrial Association (AHEIA), said harmonising these two areas was a key objective in its submission to the independent review of the Secure Jobs, Better Pay Act, being undertaken by Emeritus Professor Mark Bray and Professor Alison Preston. The review is due to deliver a draft report to government before January 31, 2025. The draft report will contain preliminary findings and recommendations and stakeholders will be given the opportunity to provide further submissions. A final report…

Staff lose confidence in ANU boss after more shocking revelations

The National Tertiary Education Union says staff have lost confidence in Australian National University Vice-Chancellor Genevieve Bell after the latest revelations about her leadership. College deans have been hauled in to change management meetings, with at least one encouraged to resign, the Australian Financial Review reports. Earlier in the week, the AFR reported Professor Bell allegedly told senior staff she would “find you out and hunt you down” if they leaked information about planned $250 million budget cuts. The fresh revelations came after 88 per cent of staff voted against Professor Bell’s proposal for staff to give up an already-agreed…
