Bushfire survivors join flood, heat and sea level rise impacted people from across Australia in calling for better consultation on National Adaptation Plan

WHAT: Regional communities hit hard by fire, flood, heat and sea levels rising are joining forces in Canberra on 26 March in a new alliance calling on the government to consult better with communities on the National Adaptation Plan.
Bushfire survivors are joining other climate disaster survivors from New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and the Torres Strait in Canberra asking political leaders to put communities at the centre of policy decision making that impacts them. They also ask for direct funding to communities to lead the recovery from, and adaptation to, climate disasters. The first step is to extend the very short consultation period for the National Adaptation Plan and Climate Risk Assessment, currently set at 1 month with very little opportunity for communities to provide input.
