Kaleidoscope of Christianity paves The Way through Martin Place in free street performance this Good Friday

FREE EVENT Wesley Mission - Good Friday Live Performance (45-minute duration)
1:00 pm AEDT, Friday 29 March 2024           Martin Place, Sydney CBD

A dramatic re-imagining of the first Easter comes together this Good Friday in Martin Place as part of Wesley Mission’s annual, free interactive street theatre performance.  This year’s performance, The Way, brings together an eclectic cast of more than 30 members.

And whilst the cast is hugely diverse in their age (7-70 years), gender, acting experience and social stature they’re united in their Christian faith and commitment to again delivering an amazing theatrical experience for the public.

Using symbolism, music, ensemble and multilingual prose in some parts, the story telling weaves a unique fabric culminating in Jesus bearing the Cross and His ultimate crucifixion.

The Martin Place amphitheatre and surrounds, along with a masterful musical arrangement that features piano, violin and brass band, sets the scene for an engaging and unique re-imagining of Good Friday.

Emphasising the importance of the day, Wesley Mission CEO Rev Stu Cameron says, “On Good Friday, it is not uncommon to hear people ask, ‘what’s so good about it?’. But the Cross reveals Jesus’ sacrificial love, and we meet a Saviour who is not removed from the challenging realities of life, but who knows our struggles.

“Easter is the central festival that marks the Christian faith even more than Christmas. It was Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection that changed the course of human history and the lives of billions of people since, including me,” Cameron says.
