MEDIA RELEASE

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST TO OPEN FOR AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL COUNCIL

The Albanese Government will soon commence a public search for new Members of the Australian War Memorial Council.

This will be an opportunity for appropriately qualified individuals to make a significant contribution to the centre of national commemoration.

The Australian War Memorial Council is responsible for the conduct and control of the affairs and policy of the Memorial, including the nature of its displays and exhibits, maintaining the Commemorative Area, as well as undertaking a major expansion project.

Appointments to the Council will be open for public expressions of interest.

Consideration will be given to an individual’s knowledge and experience, and the balance of necessary skills across the Council as a whole.

A number of appointments to the Council are due to expire in coming months. To ensure the business of the Council can continue uninterrupted while the expression of interest process is underway, the Government has made the following short-term reappointments to the Council to 30 June 2024.

  • Ms Catherine (Rhondda) Vanzella OAM
  • Mr Glenn Keys AO
  • Mrs Josephine Gabriella Stone AM
  • Major General Aziz (Greg) Melick AO RFD FANZCN SC (Retd)
  • Susan Josephine Neuhaus AM CSC

Information about how to submit an expression of interest will be advertised shortly.

Let’s know the economic costs and death tally, if any, before we brush it off as…
