Seiko Australia Set To Unveil the SEIKO BIRTH & REBIRTH Exhibition in Sydney

Believe Advertising & PR 2 mins read

Sydney, Australia - Seiko Australia proudly announces the launch of the SEIKO BIRTH & REBIRTH exhibition, commemorating 100 years since Seiko introduced its first wristwatch with "Seiko" on the dial, signifying the beginning of the Seiko brand.

To celebrate this historic milestone, Seiko is excited to unveil its first pop-up exhibition in Australia, providing visitors with an exclusive look at curated Seiko exhibitions and timepiece collections.

The pop-up exhibition will be taking place in Sydney's Mid City Centre, located on George St, and free to visitors from Friday, 15th March 2024, to Sunday, 24th March 2024.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The SEIKO BIRTH & REBIRTH exhibition invites visitors to delve into the rich history of Seiko, highlighting the evolution of the brand from its inception to its envisioned future.

The “BIRTH” section serves as an introduction to Seiko's history, spanning from its founding in 1881 to the present day. Displaying original landmark watches and archival materials, this section offers a glimpse into the Seiko Museum Ginza in Tokyo. Through this exhibition, visitors will witness the inspiring stories from Seiko's history, marked by consistent challenges and innovations. Despite overcoming various adversities, Seiko has continued to innovate in line with the founder's philosophy to be "Always one step ahead of the rest."

Additionally, the exhibition will feature a “REBIRTH” section, showcasing modern reinterpretations that signify a revival of distinctive original designs as part of Seiko’s Power Design Project – an experimental initiative shaping the future of Seiko. This exhibition will highlight the 2022 theme of REBIRTH. Eight Seiko designers have developed their ideas and expanded their imaginations from original Seiko watches and technologies that have emerged throughout their long history, channelling them into the REBIRTH of seven timepieces.

Finally, the exhibition will include a “SPORTS” section, presenting historical stopwatches and a Seiko Sports Timer activation, demonstrating Seiko's enduring commitment to excellence in sports timing — a legacy solidified by its role as the official timekeeper at numerous international sports events since 1964.

MEET THE DESIGNERS

Between Friday, 15th March 2024, to Sunday, 17th March 2024 (3 days), watch enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet and speak with two Seiko designers from Japan as part of the Power Design Project. They will be available to discuss their design inspiration and participate in FAQs sessions with visitors.
