The nets and bait are ready for this year’s haul of yabbies to Catch N Cook in Goornong

Birdgewood Grove 2 mins read

The annual yabbying event held by Bridgeward Grove will kick off again this Sunday and is proudly celebrating its tenth year. The schedule has been designed to suit a host of visitors for a day of old school fun catching yabbies and then cooking the haul back at the farm gate.

A cold glass of wine and olive products are also available for purchase and a bbq is provided for the group of hunter gathers.

“In previous years we’ve had people travel from Melbourne to share this event and we hope to welcome new and old faces to this year’s Catch N Cook,” said event manager Julie Howard.

“It’s a day out for those who are old hats at yabbying and may join us for nostalgic reasons, or they’re throwing in a line for the first time.”

“Whatever your age, you’re welcome here with us. And with the world evolving at a rapid pace, we’re about taking some time to slow down and go back to our roots so we can allow other people to access what’s in our backyard and share it with us.”

“The old school yabbying expedition and learning how to cook is a good way to relax and learn something new and going off past feedback we believe it’s worth running Catch N Cook every year,” she said.
