Come walk or jog with us in Geelong. We are in this together!

Dementia Australia 2 mins read

The 2024 Geelong Memory Walk & Jog is nearly here with the event taking place on 28 April at Eastern Beach Reserve.

Dementia Australia’s largest fundraising event hopes to attract thousands of people across Australia to help raise more than $2 million in support of people living with dementia. Funds raised at our upcoming event in Geelong will help advance the work of Dementia Australia which delivers invaluable support, education and resources for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Memory Walk & Jog is about being part of the community and feeling supported. We are in this together, which is why participants can walk, jog or run and select from our 2km walk, a 6.5km walk or jog, or an 8.5km timed run. Registrations for the Geelong Memory Walk & Jog are still open and we’d love to see as many people as possible walking, jogging, or running at Eastern Beach Reserve. It’s a great day out, raising money and awareness for such an important cause.

Fee-free TAFE to help fix skills shortages in nursing and aged care

The country’s largest union, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF), has welcomed the Albanese Government’s commitment to expanding fee-free TAFE courses. ANMF Federal Secretary Annie Butler said enduring funding for free TAFE study would help address skills shortages in the nursing and aged care workforces and save students thousands of dollars a year in TAFE course fees. “TAFE courses have proven to be a success in providing students with ‘hands-on’ training and placements in relevant healthcare settings, helping build the nation’s nursing and aged care workforce, to meet the needs of our growing, ageing population,” Ms Butler said. “We’ve…
