CSR Gyprock and Rondo Join Forces for Volunteering Day

CSR Gyprock 2 mins read

April – CSR Gyprock® and Rondo Building Services have recently partnered with The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife (FNPW) to plant two trees for every Red Book printed as part of conservation efforts. This initiative aligns with Gyprock's commitment to environmental stewardship and aims to propagate native trees and seedlings across two sites in Victoria and New South Wales, contributing to habitat restoration and landscape resilience.

The collaboration with FNPW is part of the Landscape Resilience Program (LRP), a community-driven initiative targeting fragmented ecosystems adjacent to protected areas, habitat corridors, riparian zones, and wetlands throughout Australia. The LRP's ambitious goal is to plant and nurture over 1 million native trees in flood and fire-affected regions by 2025, achieved through community nurseries propagating native seedlings for local planting on public and private lands.

The first event took place on April 10, 2024, in The Robin Davies Wollondilly Community Nursery in Picton, New South Wales, with 20 stakeholders and employees from CSR Gyprock, Rondo and partners such as PKA Acoustics and Bonnette Marketing in attendance. The community nursery doubles as a community resource centre for volunteers or locals to collect seeds and propagate plans. Volunteers were also able to choose from a large variety of Australian native plants available at the nursery to take home with them.

The second event in Victoria is scheduled for May 31, 2024, with a similar number of attendees expected.

The initiative not only promotes sustainable practices but also contributes to Australia's landscape resilience and biodiversity conservation efforts. Gyprock and Rondo encourage other businesses to join similar initiatives for a greener and more resilient future.
