April – CSR Gyprock® and Rondo Building Services have recently partnered with The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife (FNPW) to plant two trees for every Red Book printed as part of conservation efforts. This initiative aligns with Gyprock's commitment to environmental stewardship and aims to propagate native trees and seedlings across two sites in Victoria and New South Wales, contributing to habitat restoration and landscape resilience.

The collaboration with FNPW is part of the Landscape Resilience Program (LRP), a community-driven initiative targeting fragmented ecosystems adjacent to protected areas, habitat corridors, riparian zones, and wetlands throughout Australia. The LRP's ambitious goal is to plant and nurture over 1 million native trees in flood and fire-affected regions by 2025, achieved through community nurseries propagating native seedlings for local planting on public and private lands.

The first event took place on April 10, 2024, in The Robin Davies Wollondilly Community Nursery in Picton, New South Wales, with 20 stakeholders and employees from CSR Gyprock, Rondo and partners such as PKA Acoustics and Bonnette Marketing in attendance. The community nursery doubles as a community resource centre for volunteers or locals to collect seeds and propagate plans. Volunteers were also able to choose from a large variety of Australian native plants available at the nursery to take home with them.

The second event in Victoria is scheduled for May 31, 2024, with a similar number of attendees expected.

The initiative not only promotes sustainable practices but also contributes to Australia's landscape resilience and biodiversity conservation efforts. Gyprock and Rondo encourage other businesses to join similar initiatives for a greener and more resilient future.

Opposition Budget in Reply: Peter Dutton has no plan on climate change

National advocacy group Solutions for Climate Australia called out Opposition Leader Peter Dutton for not making a single mention of climate change in his Budget in Reply. “Climate change poses a great threat to Australia’s way of life,” said Dr Barry Traill, Director of Solutions for Climate Australia. “The economic impact of increased fires, floods and droughts is ignored in the Budget in Reply. The increased costs to households from the impact on food production and skyrocketing cost of insurance are also ignored.“The Coalition has no plan to cut emissions this decade and no plan to protect Australians from intensifying…

Builders respond to Budget Reply

16 May 2024 Building enough homes for all Australians is again at the centre of Federal policy decisions, with the Opposition’s Budget reply acknowledging the critical importance of addressing housing supply challenges, said Master Builders Australia CEO Denita Wawn. “To solve the housing crisis, we need to see action beyond the housing portfolio with skills, migration, infrastructure, industrial relations, defence, social services, and industry portfolios pulling in the same direction. “Builders applaud the Opposition for calling out the damaging impacts of recent industrial relations reforms and commitment to remove this complex legislation and provide more certainty for business. “The Government’s…
