NORTH LAKES, Queensland, Australia – The Minuteman Press franchise in North Lakes, Queensland, was purchased by Parampreet Dhillon (Dhillon) & Harmeet Bali (Harry) in July of 2022. They previously operated Minuteman Press in North Parramatta from 2017 to 2022, before selling that business and buying the North Lakes franchise.

Over the past two years, Dhillon and Harry have significantly grown Minuteman Press in North Lakes. At the Minuteman Press International Australia Regional Meetings in February of 2024, the dynamic duo was presented with the Top Quality Award and they also reached a new sales milestone. Dhillon and Harry share their key insights on achieving Top Quality and growing the business to such new heights.

What are the key ways you’ve grown your business and sales?

Dhillon & Harry: “We have allocated a good chunk of our marketing budget to the Minuteman Press SEO/SEM Program, leading to new business opportunities weekly. Other ways we grow our business are by networking through BNI; optimizing opportunities by upselling & cross selling, and generating customer referrals. Apart from regular printing jobs, our high-demand products are mainly signage and also promotional products.”

What does it mean to win the Top Quality Award? What are your tips to maintain high quality?

Dhillon & Harry: “Winning the Top Quality Award means an excellence in products, services and processes we have in place to meet & exceed customer expectations and industry standards. To maintain high quality, we practice providing exceptional customer service and really understanding the needs of our customers to offer them the right products & services.”

What is your background and why did you choose Minuteman Press?

Dhillon: “I have a printing & signage background with almost two decades under my belt. Harry’s background was in sales & marketing. We chose Minuteman Press because it was an established & known business internationally. We also liked the flexible business model, easy-to-use software & tools provided to support the everyday business.”

What has the support been like for you?

Dhillon & Harry: “As Minuteman Press franchise owners for the past 7 years including 2 years here in North Lakes, we can proudly say that we have excellent support from our regional reps. They are available to assist us with any queries we may have. We also value the ongoing training of FLEX to both existing & new staff.”

How would you best describe your community?

Dhillon & Harry: “We have a professional circle. Our business community serves as platform for knowledge exchange and mutual growth alongside providing opportunities for local business growth. We are part of the BNI group.”

What are the biggest rewards of owning your business?

Dhillon & Harry: “Personal fulfillment, reaping the rewards of your hard work, having control over the direction of your business, flexibility, and freedom to work on your own terms.”

What advice would you give to other owners?

Dhillon & Harry: “Have a YES Mentality! Listen to the customers. Have a reliable support structure and good resources to support the business. Understand your own strengths and skills.”
