HCF drives awareness and support for women’s health alongside netball players and community

HCF 2 mins read

THURSDAY, 11 APRIL 2024: Netball's soaring popularity has found firm footing with the enduring support of HCF, Australia’s largest not-for-profit health fund.

As Major Partner of Netball Australia and Suncorp Super Netball, HCF’s longstanding partnership, established in 2019, reflects a shared goal of empowering Australians of all ages to lead active and healthy lives.

HCF is also a partner of GIANTS Netball, Melbourne Vixens, Sunshine Coast Lightning, Queensland Firebirds, NSW Swifts, Adelaide Thunderbirds and West Coast Fever, reinforcing HCF’s commitment to the sport.

Recognising the rise of women’s sports within Australia, HCF CEO, Sheena Jack said, “We're committed to supporting the dynamic growth of women’s sporting competitions in this country, with netball serving as the number one participation sport for Australian girls and the biggest team sport in Australia.”

Over 1.2 million people of all ages and backgrounds participate in netball nationwide.

“Beyond our financial commitment to netball, we’re proud of our role as trusted health partner, working alongside the players and the netball community to drive awareness of and support for health issues that are really important to women,” said Ms Jack.

Netball Australia interim CEO Stacey West welcomed the continued support.

“Netball is a wonderful community from grassroots to elite, with strong connections throughout, and it’s great to have long-term partners like HCF committed to the sport and women’s health issues.

“We commend HCF’s efforts in raising awareness of important health topics, as well as our players for their participation and advocacy for women’s health,” Ms West said.

This year, HCF will be launching ‘Inside the Circle,’ a new video series hosted by TV and radio personality Yumi Stynes, featuring candid conversations with some of the top stars in netball.

The refreshing and candid discussions with the all-star athletes aim to tackle the stigma around periods and mental health challenges, with players openly sharing their personal experiences and insights.

“'Inside the Circle' isn't just about raising awareness - it's about normalising conversations and equipping viewers with the tools they need to prioritise their health and wellbeing,” Ms Jack said.

“The series offers viewers the opportunity to connect with the players, explore these important topics with honesty, openness, and compassion, and learn practical tips to help stay informed and in charge of their health.”

The Suncorp Super Netball season officially commences this Saturday, 13 April.
