Perth, Western Australia – Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX: IEC), an environmentally responsible, diversified mining and energy group, is thrilled to announce the discovery of significant lithium anomalies at its Maggie Hays Hill (MHH) project, located in the esteemed Lake Johnston Greenstone Belt, Western Australia. This groundbreaking find positions the company at the forefront of lithium exploration, with the potential to significantly impact the lithium supply chain.
The recent soil sampling program has unveiled two major lithium anomalies, underscoring the project's vast potential. The primary anomaly spans an impressive 2,500 metres in length and 300 metres in width, while the secondary anomaly measures 1,300 metres by 300 metres. These findings are particularly notable for their high lithium values, reaching up to 248ppm Li2O, and are closely associated with tantalum and caesium, elements indicative of highly prospective lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) enriched pegmatites.
The anomalies are strategically located near the Maggie Hays mine, with Mineral Resources Limited (ASX: MIN) recently establishing a lithium processing hub less than 15km away, further enhancing the project's logistical and economic viability.
Strategic Location and Next Steps
Situated just 25km north of the Burmeister Spodumene deposit and northwest of the Medcalf Spodumene deposit, the MHH project is perfectly positioned within a region known for its rich lithium reserves. The discovery of these anomalies not only highlights the area's untapped potential but also aligns with the company's strategic vision to become a key player in the global lithium market.
Intra Energy Corporation has outlined an aggressive exploration roadmap, with a first-pass RC drilling program scheduled for the June quarter, pending the necessary heritage and regulatory approvals. The company is committed to working closely with the Ngadju Native Title Aboriginal Corporation to ensure all cultural and environmental considerations are met.
A New Era for Lithium Exploration
This announcement marks a significant milestone for Intra Energy Corporation and the broader lithium industry. As the world increasingly turns to renewable energy sources, the demand for lithium, a critical component in battery technology, has skyrocketed. IEC's latest discovery not only positions the company as a significant player in the lithium market but also contributes to the global transition towards sustainable energy solutions.
Intra Energy Corporation looks forward to providing further updates as the project progresses and remains dedicated to exploring and developing its assets responsibly, with a keen focus on environmental stewardship and community engagement.
IEC Managing Director, Ben Dunn, commented:
“We are very pleased with the results of the final part of the soil program at Maggie Hays, which has delineated two new compelling lithium targets that are also highly anomalous in caesium and tantalum, key pathfinder elements used to identify pegmatites in the spodumene enrichment zone. The new large-scale lithium targets extend over strike lengths of 2,500 metres and 1,300 metres respectively. IEC has now identified multiple lithium targets and has scheduled a drilling program for the June quarter”.
