WHO: Ray White Cheltenham master auctioneer Greg Brydon. Furthermore Greg is the 2023 REIV & Ray White Australian Auctioneer of the Year and will be donning the goggles to call this historic real estate event. It’s going to be an amazing event , no turning back for the industry.

WHAT: Australian and world first. Greg will call the first ever property auction using cutting-edge ‘virtual reality’ goggles, with the technology designed in Melbourne.

WHEN: The converted church at 3/30A Ormond Rd, Elwood will be auctioned at 11am on Saturday 27 Apri, 2024.

WHERE: 3/30A Ormond Rd, Elwood

WHY:  forefront cutting edge of digital technology in the property industry.

Background

Webtron, a Cheltenham-based online auction software company, has built a secure online auction platform with a full suite of selling options with clients all over the world.

Alex Hill, founder and director of Webtron, said: “Webtron came up with the idea to sell the first house online ever in Australia in 2007 (it sold for $526K), but it was at lease a decade before the practice became normalised . Now, for the first time ever, we are making it possible to see, hear and interact through the eyes of an auctioneer during live real-estate auctions. There’s no turning back. This cannot be unseen.”

The benefit for the sellers when the auctioneer is plugged into the VR set is they get to see what the auctioneer sees in real time.

The sellers feel like they are in the thick of the action. Never before has a seller had the ability to directly see what the auctioneer sees and/or communicate with them in real time to provide instructions to put the home 'on the market'.

This means that for the first time, vendors will have control of the auction. No more peeking through the curtains.

No virtual reality headset is needed for the sellers, they can watch/communicate via laptop/tablet or smartphone.

In a high pressure scenario, where the seller's biggest asset is on the line, it is crucial for the auctioneer/vendor to be able to have real time communication without breaking the momentum/emotion of the auction.

This is a world first that will allow all parties to feel completely immersed in the action and make real time/split second decisions.
