With Dubai being a top travel destination amongst Australian travellers, we thought your readers might be interested in the upcoming events happening in the region. While Dubai is often known for its glitz and glamour, it also prides itself in hosting top sporting and gaming events, exquisite food festivals and culinary experiences, and various activities for travellers seeking culture or adventure.

 

We are excited to share below some of the upcoming events happening in Dubai, which is worth book marking for Aussies of all ages.  

 

Here are some of the exciting events happening in April-May to look out for:

 

  • Dubai Esports and Games Festival: (On Now until 5 May) The Dubai Esports and Games Festivals will take place for the first time at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Bringing together industry experts, gaming celebrities and gamers, the third edition of the festival will feature tournaments, educational events plus the GameExpo Summit (1 to 2 May), GameExpo (3 to 5 May), and Play Beyond (4 to 5 May). For all gaming and esports fans, this is certainly one not to miss, and a unique opportunity to engage with other gamers from around the World.  

 

  • Dubai Food Festival: (On Now until 12 May) One of Dubai’s flagship events, the Dubai Food Festival is a celebration of the city’s vibrant culinary scene. This year’s festival will serve up a menu of highlights including beachside pop-up e&Beach Canteen, Foodie Experiences, and Dubai Restaurant Week. This is a unique opportunity for travellers to taste foods from various regions and showcase the best of Dubai’s multicultural food culinary scene.

 

  • World Art Dubai: (2 to 5 May) World Art Dubai is the region’s largest affordable retail art fair, joined the city’s cultural scene in 2015 and will return for its 10th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Showcasing more than 4,000 art works from 300 renowned galleries and solo artists, the four-day art and lifestyle fair is expected to welcome 10,000 visitors who can enjoy a schedule of live art performances, workshops, and talks.

 

  • Disney movies in concert: (11 and 12 May) Two classic movies will be brought to life by Disney Concerts at Dubai Opera. On 11 May, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and conductor Gabriele will take visitors to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: A New Hope, as the complete score by legendary composer John Williams is performed to live to the film. Then on 12 May prepare for a swashbuckling high-seas adventure with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and Dubai Festival Chorus, conducted by Anthony Gabriele, performing composer Hans Zimmer’s complete score live to the film. This is a great experience for Aussie families and muso’s to enjoy and located in the beautiful Dubai Opera.
  • Hans Zimmer Live: 31 May, Coca-Cola Arena: Hollywood’s iconic music composer Hans Zimmer is returning to Dubai for an audio-visual spectacular at Coca-Cola Arena. The multi-Grammy and Academy Award winner will be joined by a world-class 45-piece band and performers for Hans Zimmer Live, which will feature music from movies including The Lion King, Gladiator, Interstellar, and The Dark Knight.
