West Perth, WA, May 27, 2024 – Arizona Lithium Limited (ASX: AZL, AZLO, AZLOA, OTC: AZLAF) proudly announces the initiation of production drilling at the Prairie Lithium Project located in Saskatchewan, Canada. This milestone marks the beginning of the first commercial lithium production plant in Canada, aiming to bolster the country's position in the sustainable lithium market.
The commencement of drilling operations on Pad #1 is part of a broader drilling and completion program across three pads, which will extend over the coming months. Production and disposal testing of the wells on Pad #1 is slated to begin in June. The initial phase involves the drilling of vertical wells, which will explore the Souris River and Dawson Bay formations for commercial viability.
Arizona Lithium Managing Director, Paul Lloyd, commented: “I am pleased to announce that we have kicked off our drilling program on schedule. The rig has been delivered to site, the first well has been spudded and the rig is now drilling our lithium wells. Operating in a mature and well-developed oil and gas province, this enables us to efficiently access the skills and services required to develop and fast track our project. These are very deep holes being drilled by a heavy duty oil drilling rig. It will take over 40 service providers and hundreds of people to execute a drilling and completion program like this. I’d like to thank all of the vendors, their employee’s and the local community for stepping up to support our project and we look forward to updating shareholders as the large drill program progresses."
Arizona Lithium is dedicated to the sustainable development of its lithium projects, including the Prairie and the Big Sandy projects in North America. The Prairie Lithium Project boasts a significant resource of 6.3 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE), positioning it as a critical asset in Arizona Lithium's portfolio.
Located in one of the world's top mining-friendly jurisdictions, the Prairie Project enjoys access to essential infrastructure such as electricity, natural gas, and transportation networks. Consistent with the company’s sustainability goals, the project is designed to minimize the use of freshwater, land, and generate less waste.
